A well-executed oil on canvas portrait of a younger gentleman surviving from the early 19th century and presented in original, untouched condition apart from a blowing away of several cobwebs from the rear for the frame!
One of two portraits acquired from the same property, this one being the larger of the two. The subject is a smart young man dressed in attire of the period, showing off a fine frilled collar. The quality of the work is very good with attention to detail to all aspects of the canvas especially the face.
Condition wise, it comes in an attractive “attic condition” and survives in good order with general historic aging to the frame and canvas. Getting more difficult to find in “un-messed” condition, this chap would be a fine catch to add to a collection and a prefect size above a fireplace or cabinet.
Dimensions – Overall: Height 92cm x Width 82cm x Depth 6.5cm
Dimensions – Specifically the Canvas Area: Height 69cm x Width 59.5cm
