A Good Set of Six Georgian Antique Dining Chairs

Dating from around 1810, these are a good set of six chairs, of great proportion which are ready to use. Alternatively you could have the seats reupholstered in a fabric at a charge of £35.00 per seat plus fabric which we would be happy to discuss with you. The chairs are currently covered in an abstract floral velvet print in muted shades of grey, russet and plum which is showing its age a little however perfectly okay and firm to sit on.
Dining chairs of this era seem to have stood the test of time well with wide seats and ample backs making them wonderfully comfortable and a sensible alternative to their more “fancy” Victorian counterparts. We have sold a number of sets of Georgian dining chairs and most clients are finding them very suitable for a contemporary apartment or farmhouse setting not just for a period home.
This set of six is no different - an unassuming restrained design, simple straight lines, good craftsmanship, ample seats and firm in structure. The frames are of a good coloured quality mahogany, nice grain with the usual pleasing wear and tear marks, one coming with a good historic repair to the rear middle back stem which we’d say was very well executed and not particularly noticeable, otherwise you are looking at a good set of six chairs that have style, poise and a modest form.
