You can take your pick on this rather nice ebonised Victorian armchair - plonk it down in your chosen room and enjoy or choose a new fabric and recover. Personally we enjoy the used look, it’s a matter of taste we expect… We have had several clients sitting on the chair whilst viewing other pieces and no complaints so far.
The chair importantly is firm and all in situ, no wobbles, repairs or quivers – the ebonising and carving with shell and flower motifs is of a superior quality with pleasing wear marks close to the arms where hands would have been placed over many years. The dusky pink velvet is aged, a little tatty, no tears and serviceable. The black pot casters on all four legs are working well and overall the piece is showing its age charmingly well.
So good to find a chair that’s relatively untouched and still useable.
