1930’s Scottish Mill Roll Stands – Great for Door Stops or Bookstands
We purchased these purely for their look and then scratched our heads to think what uses they may have.
We acquired the stands from the historic Scottish Mill of Robert Noble in Peebles originally established in 1666 under the name of David Ballantyne, which during the War provided the majority of Barathea and Cavalry Twill for the Army, Air Force and Navy. The stands would have been used to hold the large rolls of woven fabric, one at either end of the rolls.
Made by Titan around 1930, we think they are great looking items - possessing bags of history and in very much as found condition with a few welded repairs to boot. We are thinking they would make very useful doorstops, they are weighty. Or they may well be useful to place a few books, remotes, mobiles or handheld computers on for a change.
We have lightly polished these unique items and they are ready to enjoy. We have two pairs one set slightly taller than the other but identical in design. Please note the price above is for the taller pair.
