Of a good sensible size with height adjustable shelves and a pleasing lived in look. This late Victorian bookcase is capable of fitting into numerous settings.
It’s modest in posture with a pair of slender columns to both sides and three shelves. A little more restrained than some of its imposing counterparts and also small in size compared to many. We rather like its tatty leather faced shelves, overall even colour and simple outline. It’s not too precious and ready to fill.
The general condition is good – firm, no wobbles or spits to the carcass, however the back does fall a little short of the top (not noticeable when filled). We would assume that the Bookcase once had a pair of doors to the front having the hinge holes filled in however a neat job was done so no big deal there.
