A Super Art Deco Modernist Oak Desk Black Handles
Handsome looking desk, English C1930s by makers Inglesants – a quality and lesser known maker from Leicester – similar to Waring and Gillows of Lancaster.
Got to say this one sings super – it not only possesses the look but also all the right features. With its leaning towards the modernist look leaving behind the curves and flamboyance of the early Art Deco period we have a neater, more angled look with those original black handles, a little set of shelves to the one side for books or the like and a good look around with panels.
Workshop report – The desk sits in lovely order having had a little time in our workshop. As mentioned the original black oblong shaped handles are in place. The oak drawers are running smoothly and the little bookcase to the side is in good shape. We have the odd ink mark to the interior of the drawers – to be expected. The original leather, likely calf, with its tooled edge sits in place – we do have wear to the top and losses to the edges but again true to the piece. We like the aging, however a replacement could be added if you wish. We have ensured the desk is ready to place and enjoy.

For any large items that require two people to lift the item, we ask that you are available at the time of delivery to be able to give our shipper a lift off the van and into your house with the item. If you are not able to lift items yourself, we ask that you have someone on hand at the time of delivery to assist our shipper with moving the item. We are happy to quote for a two person delivery if required.
