Possessing a mellow country feel with the drawers sitting on bracket feet, this secretaire chest survives in good original condition from the early 19th Century.
The chest is of a sensible size with the ability to slip into most locations- hall, drawing room or study with the useful advantage of a secretaire drawer with several pigeon holes and smaller drawers. The condition is pleasingly worn without suffering from any wobbles or sways – the drawers are sliding in and out fine, the bracket legs are firm and there are no concerns for the frame. We particularly like the “mustache” escutcheons and the overall “lived in look” the piece omits.
If you are seeking a chest with some history on show, happily exhibiting its past rather than a majestic looking “mint” chest then this one is perfect. We would say a handsome and rather attractive chap!
Dimensions – Overall: Height 130cm x Width 85cm x Depth 51.4cm
Dimensions – Specifically the Writing Pane: Height 74cm x Depth 42cm
Established in 2011 we take pleasure in working for private and commercial clients in the sourcing of single pieces though to full Interior Design.
