English Vintage Metal Factory Cabinets marked 1951 - Super Patina

A recent find from a Leicestershire tooling workshop are these three matching 1951 cabinets. These are showing their legacy and heritage wonderfully well with plenty of marks, loss of paint and 65 years of workshop wear and tear…
The cabinets are reassuringly heavy for their size, always pleasing and still possess the original workshop lettering - be it a little faded. We purchased the cabinets direct from the workshop which had a connection with the aerospace industry and were having a bit of a clear out of older cabinets. They carry a riveted brass emblem on the reverse “GVIR 1951 Rubery Owen & Co Ltd”. Rubbery Owen & Co Ltd is a British engineering company which was founded in 1884 in Darlaston, West Midlands and continues today, 131 years later! Adverts dating from 1938 sees the company producing steel storage equipment.
There are three of these tough beauties all the same size and arrangement however due to wear and tear, placement in the workshop, all are slightly different in look and finish, a mix of blues and greys. Fortunately they all carry their battle scares of a working life with the look and feel just perfect in our eyes. We have cleaned away any “factory grime” and given them all a coat of polish so they are ready to be used and enjoyed.
It’s so great to grab some original cabinets and to get three that are matching is a wonderful bonus! They have a mass of uses – commercial we can see them in restaurants. Domestically we see them in a hallway, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom or workspace … the list in never ending.
