What a wonderful item – full of true Victorian style and a little ostentatious for a greenhouse heater but all the better for it! This rather appealing item with its ornate treacle glazed pottery finish was made by Maple’s and Co at the turn of the century. It’s very grand with a plinth form and is cast with numerous classical and stylish motifs. Just a few chips to the glaze otherwise good condition.
We feel that it would look great sitting in a garden room or conservatory being very decorative, maybe with a plant on top but could also be used for it’s purpose – a heater – not sure about the greenhouse gases omitted by use of paraffin however!
An, oh so attractive piece of Victorian eccentricity- we just love it.
