An Art Nouveau Influenced Eight Legged Walnut Writing Desk C1900

Extremely elegant and sitting in a very pleasing original condition this walnut desk sings style and grace with echoes of the Art Nouveau era.
We have not over done the cleaning of this desk, preferring to leave it with its history intact which we feel works very well when rehousing this kind of piece. You could without doubt decide to re polish the tops and replace the original leather if you wish, personally why bother?
The desk trumps many of its counterparts with its eight gently arc shaped legs, petit back mirror which is flanked by a pair of drawers and sweet little pigeon holes underneath - I would assume used for envelopes. The reeded frieze sits firmly above its curved lower frame and dished tray.
As mentioned the desk does have a few marks on the tops of the drawers, the leather is aged with marks, the mirror is marked and there is a historic repair to the frame which you can hardly see and does not affect its purpose or stability. Certainly no wobbles or sways.
Overall a very tasteful desk and its size also means it would fit perfectly in a hallway, drawing room, great for a shop or even better into the bay window of a bedroom. The back of the desk is also quite attractive which means that it does not necessarily have to sit against a wall…
