Victorian Oak Gothic Inspired Slipper Chair with Carved Face of Bacchus

Truly individual and requiring little space to fully appreciate the look of this interesting Victorian oak chair, highlighted with a slightly melancholy but youthful carved head of Bacchus. As we all know, Bacchus was the Roman god of agriculture and wine, adopted from the Greek god Dionysus, one of the major and more popular figures of Greek mythology and is included in some lists of the twelve Olympians. Now back to the chair, Bacchus’s face is situated just in the right place in the centre of the back.
The chair has suffered a little in its past however we have given it a new life – having repaired the joints to the seat, given her a thorough clean and had her fully, professionally upholstered in Kelty Elderberry 100% wool from the Glendale Fabric Collection by Voyage which we feel compliments the wood and style of the piece.
The chair possess two small castors which finish off the bulbous front legs and as mentioned, overall the chair is in good condition with the obvious marks from age and history with no wobbles and with new upholstery the seat is reassuring firm and plump.
