Small Heavy Riveted Iron Trough / Tank Great Shape and Patina – Perfect for Logs

This one caught our eye immediately whilst we searched through a pile of old garden gnomes and tin trunks! It’s beautifully sized and wonderfully shaped. We often get offered troughs/ tanks, however mostly are a little large, bog standard and to be honest pretty ugly…
We think this one oozes style and quality and dare I say is rather pretty. The rivets are thick and solid, the two sweeping “handles” are perfectly proportioned at either end and the slightly angled sides finish off what is a beautifully decorative item. In addition to this the weathering on the iron is also very attractive.
We have lightly cleaned and lightly polished the heavy piece and also successfully repaired two small holes at the base. There is also a very small hole to one side which is hardly noticeable.
The trough would work in or out of the home, great as a log basket, good for piling shoes and boots into near the front door or perfect for indoor plants in a conservatory or out on a patio. We would say it’s from around the 1900s.
