Large Original Modernist Race Horse and Jockey Sculpture Mary Milner Dickens
Great looking and of a great scale, we have an original racehorse and jockey sculpture by Mary Milner Dickens Prix de Rome, M.F.A., A.R.C.A. “Whilst obtaining her A.R.C.A in 1956, she was awarded the Royal Society of British Sculptors Countess Feodora Gleichen prize for best female sculptor graduating that year. During this time, in two subsequent years (1955-56) she won first prize in the national competition to design the Topham Trophy – the first woman recipient in its history. Not a bad pedigree”. One of our images is of Mary.
The sculpture, an original piece which is a mixed media, patinated plaster sitting on a fiber base does have a few losses but is certainly a fine modernist centre piece and would look great on a sideboard at home or in a commercial space.
A super piece of work by an award winning English artist.
Dimensions - Overall: Height 57.5cm x Width (Nose-Tail) 78.5cm x Depth 16cm with the Base 28cm x 16cm
