A Good Pair Art Deco Era English Armchairs C1928
Great looking pair of Art Deco armchairs purchased in 1928 and have enjoyed being owned by one family since new.
These have a rather handsome stance and poise and are lovely weighty chairs of good quality, oh yes they are comfortable with a decent length and width to the seat, slightly club style in stance – we have a slender shaped arm which leads down to the decorative base and front ball feet.
Workshop report – The chairs are in good shape with no wobbles or movement to the frames which are weighty as you would expect. We have day to day wear and historic marks to the frames but nothing nasty or off putting. The chair springs are good with a firm well supported seat and back. We would assume the chairs would have enjoyed a full refurbishment on the upholstery side quite recently. The Art Deco inspired woven fabric displaying a wonderful array of zigzagged and chevron stepped patterns in muted tones shows a little wear but no holes or stains etc – perfectly usable or our upholsterer Mark would be happy to quote to reupholster.
A very nice pair of English Armchairs from 1928.
