These may have once been wrapped around the, oh so cool Dodgem Track or maybe fended off the crowds from the almost deadly Whirling Waltzers, either way we just love the hand painted patterns and the slightly beaten condition of these fairground boards, let’s face it these have seen some great action!
It’s the Metropolis design and colours that makes these interesting to look at – almost Deco in design and well painted with good scale and colour match. Sometimes these boards can be a little “fancy-schmancy”, a little too “happy carousal” however these possess presence and are visually strong.
Ok the bottoms are a little “chewed”, some of the paint has flaked however their soul and integrity truly remains, and you almost get a whiff of hot dogs if you let your mind drift whilst looking at them… Hey the good old days before Alton Towers!
They are a sensible size, strong in structure and do look fab on walls as works of art or even lent against a wall and for a price we know a man who will make a couple of small metal stands so they could be free standing, turning them into screens or sculptures – let us know.
