Set of 6 1940s Oak Armchairs Government Issue F. P&S 1942
Never easy to find, and we have a set of six 1940s oak armchairs stamped F. P&S Ltd 1942 with the Crown stamp. Made for the government of the time.
Company history is very interesting. Harry, William and Thomas, Frederick Parker & Sons established a reputation for quality furniture, especially upholstered chairs and sofas. They sold to the upper end of the domestic market. They also fitted out and furnished government buildings, royal palaces and some of the great Cunard ocean liners of the 1920s and ‘30s. The name changed to Parker Knoll and the company concentrated on building up the home market. Of course they are still in business today.
Not a bad pedigree and they survive in good order with historic wear and mellow aging but perfectly good to use and so handsome – perfect around a kitchen table or even outside…
Price is for the set of 6.
