Large Edward Beale Oil on Canvas Nude C1970s
Great textured large nude in oil on canvas by Edward Beale (1950-2017)
Edward Beale was a London artist born and bred. He studied painting at the Camberwell School of Art and at the Royal Academy Schools in 1976, where he won the Edwin Landseer Prize and the David Murray Traveling Scholarship twice. After graduating from the Royal Academy he was offered a one-man show at the Royal Academy Schools by the Keeper, Peter Greenham.
People talk about the energy and power within his landscapes, and that his portraits, life studies and still lifes are full of rhythmic movement. His work is found in collections worldwide.
This portrait, which may have been a fellow student - something Beale adopted on occasions possesses bags of texture, spirit and colour – a wonderful piece of great scale. It survives in fine order with his signature, script, framing label and other labels to the rear.
Sadly Beale passed away in 2017, a fine British Contemporary Artist.
