A dashing young man indeed and a super addition to a collection!
This portrait is a well painted oil and shows a rather good looking gentleman with all the characteristics of the early 19th century. The colours are deep, dusky and shadowy apart from his red lips which are rather striking.
The portrait is painted on canvas which has been mounted onto board, we would say early in its life, not recently. It certainly possesses a charm with a little craquelere around the edge of the picture with no drastic damage apart from ageing. It is of a sensible size making it easy to either hang alongside a group of other paintings or place on a side table or chest of drawers.
We currently have him sitting next to our desks and we are starting to talk to him – a mix between Mr Darcy and Poldark, could be worse I suppose!
