10 Drawer Oak Chest of Drawers - Country House Scale C.1910
Splendidly large and handsome, this country house scale oak chest of 10 drawers was probably used for storing linen. The look, size and quality is good and it survives in great historic order with a pleasing grain to the golden oak with all original brass swan neck handles in place. It would work well in a barn conversion, great for a kitchen or maybe for what it was intended – storing linen and blankets...
Workshop report – The chest sits firm with no wobbles or sways. The top does have usage marks but nothing ugly. The drawers are running well, with locks and a single working key and are clean and neat inside. All the handles are in situ and aging well. We have day to day marks around the plinth but again nothing you would not expect. Smells fine, looks fine and is as you would expect, very weighty.
A tremendous piece of early 20th Century English furniture.
