Sitting in its original condition with the addition of a coating of fresh wax polish to the oak and the upgrading of new hessian to its base this oak office chair is a rather good catch.
It’s certainly comfortable, probably due to its broad seat, decent sized back and sprung base - they do not make them like they used to! The condition is, in our eyes, as it should be - worn, with history but perfectly useable.
The oak frame is solid, of a good colour with some pleasing wear marks to the arms and base. The original tan Rexine upholstery has a few nibbles at the corners but no splits, tears or rips. The wheels are fine – worth remembering that compared to the gliding casters of today they are a little pedestrian. The chair swivels perfectly well, however again a little gentler than the whipping action of its modern counterparts.
These chairs not only look great in front of a desk, but can look very stylish placed in bedrooms and sitting rooms and even larger bathrooms.
We love the look and think the old boys got plenty of life left in him!
Dimensions – Overall: Height 88cm x Width 60cm x Depth 46cm
Dimensions – Specifically the Seat: Width 55cm x Depth 46cm
