Lovely Vintage Mixed Wood 1930s Bergere Armchair
A lovely looking 1930s bergere armchair, often called a fireside chair we assume because they sat next to the fire in the good old days! This one possesses a rather attractive shape and with its fab looking spring system (under the cushion) its comfy as well.
Very much in the cc41 style – it's simple in its form, easy on the eye with lovely bentwood arms and simple square ending feet. The cane sides and back give it a “posher” look with a little crescent to the top finishing off the look rather nicely.
Workshop report – It’s sitting in fine order. The frame is clean and firm, the cane work is break and repair free with decent age tones to the cane and frame. The cushion is in a vintage woven wool fabric with a little wear to the underside, otherwise fine. You could of course replace the cushion if you wish. Expect day to day marks to the frame but nothing ugly.
A pretty looking piece of British furniture C1930.
