Handsome Oak Victorian Library Chair C1900
Late Victorian and rather good looking, this one in desirable oak is profusely carved and survives in good order. Hardly a shrinking violet - it would look fabulous in a period home or fit in well into a more contemporary setting too. Of particular attraction are the ruffled paw feet, lovely sloping arms and heavy carved sides.
Workshop report – The chair survives in good order, the woven floral upholstery does have wear with the top showing through to the straw filling, however a lovely quality fabric and worth keeping if the tired look is your thing... The seat is firm with good springs. The heavy oak frame is good and has one small historic worn in repair - not ugly or off putting. Overall a fine and damn handsome chair, clean and ready to use.
A late Victorian Armchair with real character.
