1930’s Vintage Single Pedestal Oak Desk Waring & Gillow Ltd
With the Waring & Gillow (1932) Ltd label attached to the smaller drawer, this desk survives in great vintage order with just a light whiff of Art Deco about it and such a super compact size – no space wasted in these.
Not easy to find, these desks from Waring & Gillow Ltd of Lancaster are without doubt great looking pieces – with a long two handled drawer and another smaller one sitting alongside it and a tall cupboard below with a shelf inside. The desk possesses its original solid brass handles with the one on the cupboard a marvel to behold...
Workshop report – the desk, of which we have 3 are pretty much in original order. The build quality is great which you would expect from Waring & Gillow. The brass handles and latch are present – you could polish up however we prefer to leave as is – age tarnished. The drawers are fine with the usual ink marks inside – we have vacuumed and cleaned them. The oak is golden in tone with usual day to day marks and scuffs to the top and sides. The oak foot rest is age marked and also has an aged ink mark on display. The desk smells fine and is ready to place. Firm with no wobbles.
A wonderful 1930s British oak desk ready for work!
