A wonderful find, this Mek Elek lamp sits on a firm base with its original Made in England switch added to the base which makes a refreshing change and gives its far more kudos!
We are very much of the opinion that we prefer to tidy up the lamps leaving as much of the history as possible rather than stripping them back, that’s not really our style. We will always gently clean the workings, get rid of factory filth, lightly polish and pass them on to our wonderful friend Harry who then does a full rewire, plugs them up and gives them an official PAT test to ensure they are ready and safe to go.
We have secured the Mek Elek Lamp to a heavy circular steel base so you are able to use it as a table lamp or place it on a floor. However the base will unscrew if you wish to attach to a wall.
Overall the condition is used which we just love – yes the enamel shade possess the odd chip and shard of enamel missing but not much, the stems are wear marked with usage, nevertheless as they should be with the arms and movements working well.
