Fabulous 1930s Oak Glazed Bookcase Cabinet
Awfully good looking and such an accommodating size, this one dates from the early 1930s and sits in rather good condition – we would say cherished rather than banished to a shed or barn.
This beauty has a look going for it and we would assume a one off, craftsman made piece. The arched top rarely seen on cabinets of this era sets up the look with the shaped glazed door giving way to 3 adjustable oak shelves inside. The slender drawer sits above a door which, like the top glazed half, opens by way of its original key. Finally the splayed legs to the back and front are just wonderful...
Workshop report- The cabinet sits in fine order with no faults, just gentle day to day wear. We have lightly waxed the piece. Both locks and doors are working and closing as they should and the glazed door has no cracks or breaks. It sits in one piece and is slender so transportation and placing not really a concern.
A delightful piece of English 1930s Oak living room furniture.
Dimensions - Overall: Height 176cm with Surface 95.5cm x Width including Legs 75cm with Above Sections 68cm x Depth 41cm to Lower Section and 18.5cm to Upper Section
