1930s Golden Oak Minty of Oxford Bureau Bookcase
This one is looking particularly sharp having enjoyed a careful 1 owner previous life. We get offered lots of Mintys and unfortunately most have succumbed to a shed or barn existence but this one survives in great order having been gently used. It has a lovely tone to the oak and the particularly good looking combi is very useful too.
The little maker’s plaque sits in the top glazed cabinet and the overall shape is a classic dignified Deco 1930s. The chrome fitting on the inside slide and lock is a nice period touch as is the shaped base. As mentioned the storage and desk combo is good and useful. We have a glazed sliding door to a top cabinet – a useful well kitted out pigeon hole with drop door bureau doubling as a desk surface and two deeper glazed bookcases below.
Workshop report - This one has been well cared for and sensibly used. We have lightly waxed the piece and its glowing well in its original finish. The glass on all is crack free and sliding as it should. The chrome hardware is shining well with no pitting or cracks. The inside of the bureau is lightly marked but nothing nasty. Expect a well-cared for piece with no offensive marks.
A classic piece of Minty in fine order.
