Early 20th Century Industrial Workshop Chest of 13 Drawers
What a cracker – British early 20th Century, probably started life in a shop and was “relegated” to a workshop to mature to its current un-messed with condition. On top of the fact that it is truly wonderful, it’s a sensible size and all the drawers, flight of paper holders and little cubby hole lift up door making it so, so useful.
Three slender drawers of differing widths sit under the crusty worn pine top and underneath these are the main body of deeper drawers all with original worn cupped handles. The front has enjoyed a historic coat of buttermilk/cream paint which has worn wonderfully well - where it should, especially to the tops of the drawers and those fab file holders.
Workshop report- We have cleaned the chest and also sealed the inside of the drawers – you could take out the divisions if you wish but we feel they are very useful. All drawers are running smoothly and the whole piece is historically marked from over 100 years of use. It sits firm with no wobbles and smells fine.
A great looking chest – the sort which are getting more and more difficult to find in this condition…
Dimensions - Overall: Height 91cm x Width 148cm x Depth 42cm
