Attractive Arts & Crafts Oak Library Chair
Great looking armchair with a sensible mix of Arts & Crafts and a whiff of Art Deco C1920 in a nice tone of English oak. A less frequent design than most and possibly a one off or maybe from a commercial background rather than home.
Its pull is, its simple form with the stepped front legs mimicked at the top of the rear and the slight curve to the seat and subtle curve to the support of the arms. Altogether a very attractive looking chap.
Workshop report – The chair is sitting in a very good historic order with just the right amount of wear in the right places. We have replaced the very tired looking upholstery seat with a good quality English leather hide which will mature with age – currently a muted plum colour with a soft grain. The frame sits firm and the chair is ready for work.
An early 20th Century English armchair with a hint of class.
Dimensions - Overall: Height 90.5cm x Width 56cm x Depth 50cm
Dimensions - Specifically the Seat: Height 45cm x Width 45-35 (Front-Rear) x Depth 42cm
