British 1940s Leather Club Armchairs
First class quality and look on these early 1940s British leather club armchairs and such a great deep brick red colour. These are the best we have had for a while...
The design is clean cut with simple lines etc and certainly leaning towards the 30s in form. However the first consideration when purchasing chairs is whether they are comfortable – these are built superbly – the spring system under the chairs is a work of art, the deep double back, decent sized arms and decent length in the seat means yes these are very comfortable indeed. Mind you what helps is the condition, of course they have the usual knock, bumps and wear but the springs are good and tight which means your bum does not hit the floor and your back is supported when you sit on them. Best of both worlds cool and comfy!
Workshop report – these two are well built, there is no movement in the frames with the seats and rears being firm. We have conditioned the good leather hide on both chairs. We do have historic wear and tear – a little wear to the edges but not ugly or over the top – no rips or bits of leather hanging off. We have checked out the springs and have added new hessian to the bases and both are smelling fine. Expect sensible day to day wear.
A fine and handsome British club armchair C1940.
