Vintage Wake & Dean 3 Drawer Oak Desk C1937
What a cracker, marked Wake and Dean 1937 Government Crown signifying Government issue underneath and in a pleasing oak tone. These were well constructed in solid oak, no ply on this old boy, decent oak lined drawers and altogether a damn good looking and very useful desk. It survives in good order with no wobbles or sways, solid with the original green Rexine top rip free. We love the 3 drawer front look.
Workshop report – The desk survives in good overall order. We have waxed the oak frame and drawer runners. The original green top is wonderfully aged with a crackled look to the surface and does have historic marks but nothing fresh. The brass marked cup handles are again nicely tarnished (5 minutes with Brasso would make them shine if that’s your look) we prefer the original feel. Good historic order.
