1930s Vintage Oak School Glazed Cabinet Bookcase
A cracking looking and well-made 1930s oak glazed cabinet/bookcase surviving in fabulous order. It’s a good looking piece with its glazed framed oak doors to the upper half and panelled oak doors to the lower half. The top possesses three adjustable oak fronted shelves and the lower half a fixed deep shelf.
It’s a solid weighty piece and the quality is great – solid oak sides and doors with subtle mouldings to the top and front, nice age tarnished brass knobs. It’s also a fine tone of oak.
Workshop report - As mentioned this one is of good quality, we would assume from a school or university. The oak is age marked in places with nothing fresh or new. The glass has no cracks or breaks. Both locks are in situ however no keys. We do have 4 little screw holes to one side of the upper cabinet which are filled but not ugly. We have cleaned the interior and lightly waxed the piece so it’s ready to place. It does separate into two for easier delivery and placing.
A good looking piece of 1930s British oak educational furniture.
Dimensions - Overall: Height 197.5cm with Lower Surface 84cm x Width 124.5cm x Depth 47cm and Top Section 27cm
