Victorian Painted Kitchen Chest of 3 Drawers with Flour Bin
A North Yorkshire find and what a stunning piece of English Victorian furniture. This one possesses a very rare combo of 3 drawers and then a flour bin disguised as 3 false drawers just to keep it looking pretty.
It survives in a barn found condition and to be honest it’s aging wonderfully with the white paint shedding and loosening, giving us glimpses of the original scumbled glaze finish - just fab! The chest sits on its tall tulip legs just to finish off the look.
Workshop report - It survives in creditable condition. The piece sits firm with no wobbles or sways. The 3 drawers are running smoothly with the pot knobs in situ on the drawers and false drawers. The flour bin is paper lined – again original and apart from a crack in the top it’s as you would wish.
A rare piece of kitchen furniture of small proportions from the Victorian period around 1880.
Dimensions - Overall: Height 91.5cm x Width 101.5cm x Depth 52.5cm
