Attractive Victorian Chesterfield Sofa
A proper one, with good wide slung arms and a deep profile. We would say late Victorian and surviving in good condition. It’s an attractive, fine quality sofa with a fixed seat and as mentioned good girth to the rounded arms. The dense turned legs to the front as well as the curved rear legs all enjoy well sized brass castors.
Workshop report - The sofa sits firm with no wobbles, breaks or sways to the weighty frame. The floral woven upholstery is again good with the seat firm - your bum will not sink onto the floor- good springs. We do have a little sun fading to the rear of the arms and back and a little thread wear to the front of the back on the right and a teeny nick at the back - not a game changer and not ugly. The turned front and arched rear legs are all firm, well sized and with large brass castors in situ. Overall it sits right – probably too good to reupholster but the choice is yours. It smells fine too.
A good English Victorian Chesterfield.
