Vintage 1940s Twin Pedestal Desk
Found in a Leicestershire workshop, this twin pedestal desk survives in good historic order. These desks are very well made and crafted, this one possesses a black top which we think works well with the look.
It’s of a useful form with a middle drawer, flanked either side by two similar depth drawers underneath which sit two good sized drawers and under those two deep drawers. So plenty of storage space. The top does separate from the bottom, making it useful for placing and moving as it is a tad weighty.
As mentioned these were very well constructed – strong, good joints, good quality.
Workshop report - The desk sits in good historic order – the original black top is rip and tear free with marks – nothing fresh. The drawers are clean inside and have been vacuumed - they are running fine. The brass handles are all in place with good wear, no key. The black base does have wear marks but again all part of its history. The rear is panelled so it could sit in a room if you wish. Expect day to day wear but not a knackered piece. It smells fine.
A fine looking vintage British desk ready for work - please remember its hefty compared to some…
