Mid Century Chrome Chippy Heath Telephone Table Seat
One of the later designs by Chippy Heath who previously manufactured teak tables. However as fashions and tastes changed they decided to produce a 1970s chrome framed telephone table.
We like the design on this one - a good polished steel angled frame, a neat little run of tubular polished steel underneath the smoked glass, probably for one’s briefcase or telephone book and the upholstered seat hides a useful storage area - very neat and stylish.
Workshop report- The original smoked glass is crack and chip free with day to day marks and scratching but nothing ugly. We have reupholstered the seat in a good quality midnight blue woven fabric which echoes the era well. The faux rosewood veneer is good with one or two very small slivers missing – again not ugly. The chrome frame is repair and wobble free with a little age tarnishing. The Chippy label is hidden inside the storage area under the seat.
