Handsome Victorian Desk Library Chair C1900
This one is particularly good looking with its handsome stance and posture surviving from the late Victorian period. Its thick turned front legs are sitting on its brass and pot castors with the rear legs dense and lightly flared giving it good stability. We particularly like the turned spindles and lower set top rail to the rear.
Workshop report – it’s sitting in good order, the burnt orange short cut velvet is rip, hole and tear free but used, be it sensibly. The seat is firm – we have checked the springs and added new hessian to the underside and all is okay with the seat firmish and fine for use. The frame is historically marked with knocks and bumps but nothing ugly or unattractive. It smells fine and perfect for use.
A fine looking Victorian armchair with that lovely lived in look.
