Vintage Industrial 1950s British Desk by Milners
A great looking desk by British maker Milners – these guys enjoyed a good reputation for making safes and numerous cabinets and occasionally desks in shaped and pressed steel. This one was found in a small Sussex workshop having been used by 2 generations of engineers from the same family.
It’s displaying the right look and shape for its age. A good looking little bank of five drawers to the left of the knee hole and a little useful cupboard to the left are not a bad front view. The corners have a gentle curve with the Milners lettering pressed to the rear panel of the desk. It sits in its original factory grey paint and the black top is a dense heavy weight vinyl type fabric.
Workshop report - the desk is in good vintage order being around 70 years old now. The edges and corners of the metal frame are historically marked. We do have a loss of paint at the rear – historic and honest. The top at the back curve has a 2-3cm split with historic repair - not ugle. The drawer’s are running fine with the original black handles in place. The cupboard to the right is clean and tidy. We have gently cleaned the desk – no bad odours.
A decent British vintage desk by Milners of smaller proportions.
