Rare Peter Hoyte Swivel Armchairs Mid Century 1960s
Terrific swivel lounge chairs by British designer Peter Hoyte and presented in a very nice condition and in the desired black with rosewood inserts to the polished steel four star base.
Firstly these are very comfortable, however the slick and stunning profile of the chairs win the day with us - even if they were not comfortable we would have purchased them... From most angles these are the absolute dog’s bits!
Workshop report – These survive in a rather splendid order. Both have the original metal label underneath “Made in England by Peter Hoyte, Surbition, Surrey”. The polished steel and rosewood star base is in good order and the swivel working as it should. We are hard pushed to find any nicks or loss of black vinyl and the original hard wearing charcoal woven wool fabric on the seats is rips and hole free. Our upholsterer Mark has carefully replaced the sponge with an up to date version so the seat is good.
Just wonderful British design from the 1960s.
