A Good Gentleman’s Antique Victorian Ebonised Armchair C1870
A rather good looking Victorian ebonised armchair of larger proportions than most, surviving in good condition and being of good quality. This one is comfortable with its high back and as mentioned, wide berth.
Most importantly the chair is firm and all in situ, no wobbles to the arms, repairs or quivers – the ebonising and carving is of a superior quality with pleasing wear marks close to the arms where hands would have been placed over many years. The black pot casters on all four legs are working well and overall the piece is showing its age charmingly well. The dusky pink velvet upholstery is in fine order with no holes, no rips and no buttons missing just sensible fading and wear. The seat is firm with the chair having no bad odours and weighty for its size.
A good looking English Victorian armchair ready to place and enjoy…
