Good Vintage 1920s Oak Two Drawer Desk By Simpoles of Manchester
A great looking 1920s oak desk by Simpoles of Manchester – marked on the locks. Simpoles produced some good looking desks and were the quality end of the market... and this beauty survives in great condition with no alterations.
It’s of sensible proportions compared to some and we rather like the original long brass handles and those shaped oak legs. The top is original grained Rexin and is historically worn.
Workshop report – This one is in great order. We have vacuumed the drawers which are running fine, waxed the runners and lightly waxed the frame. The locks are in situ with the makers stamp but no key. As mentioned the top is original showing sensible wear but no holes or real damage. The desk is firm with no wobbles and smells fine.
A great British desk from a good maker.
