Victorian Ebonised Atheistic Movement Overmantle Mirror
Surviving in a rather wonderful unmessed with condition, age jaded and all the better for it. These mirrors are getting more difficult to find and this one is a good size with plenty of attractive features.
Surviving from around C1880 the mirror is in super time worn condition - the gilding is worn and age darkened in places, the ebonising is rubbed in a few places and pleasingly the little painted bird surround with foliage survives attached. The original mirror glass is lightly foxed as you would wish and the white enamel knobs at the base are in situ. So many times pieces have been lost on these mirrors, however this one remains complete and gloriously aged.
A good Atheistic movement overmantle mirror.
