Matching Pair Early 20th Century Chests Trunks – Captain Phillipps RMA
Surviving in magnificent untouched condition and of a matching pair these travel chests were once under the ownership of Captain Picton Phillipps of the Royal Marines – both trunks have a brass plaque to the tops confirming this.
It’s never easy to find a matching pair and these are just tremendous - the wear is spot on, the quality of the trunks is also first class. Both have working locks and keys, the metal banding to the edges is nicely knocked and bruised, the handles are again a great design and also pleasingly worn. The blackened carcass is again genuinely marked. Inside they have a top compartment/tray that lifts out – the green baize intact in places. Both have the retailers labels still attached. The trunks are around C1920 and still have a few luggage labels dangling off the handles.
Lots of uses – hallway, bedroom or living space.
A fine pair of British chests in splendid condition...
Dimensions – Overall: Height 47cm x Width 74.5cm x Depth 45cm
