Vintage 1940s Art Metal Desk 6 Foot Table Seats 8 – Wonderful Condition
One of two which are very original, one owner table/desk from the offices of the Albion St Works, a Grade 2 listed factory in Birmingham. These are never easy to find in this condition and are even scarcer in this larger size. If used as a table they are able to seat up to 8 comfortably.
Art Metal of London made some great stuff and it was very well designed and manufactured. I do not think you will find desks of this type made any better.
It’s a great looking piece of furniture with its grey folded metal frame, metal rim, black feet and dense Linoleum top. The fact that these have remained in one place means that the wear is wonderful and genuine. The frame is marked and worn in the right places and the top with no splits or lifts is again marked according to its history. The long metal drawer, with logo, is running fine and it also smells fine.
Just wonderful British pieces of furniture C1940s.
