A Smaller Vintage 1940s 2 Drawer British Oak Desk
This one is a smaller size than some but still with 2 useful drawers and surviving from the 1940s in great order. It’s of a compact design, 2 long drawers both with original oak handles to the front sitting on 4 lightly tapered oak legs with the top slightly bevelled at its edges. This one would be office issue and maybe used by a typist or more than likely a clerk or junior.
Workshop report – The oak frame has enjoyed a sensible repolish and light waxing. The drawer runners have been waxed and the insides vacuumed and clean – historic ink marks remain. The top is again historically marked nothing fresh and looks about right for its age. The desk is a one part piece, legs do not unscrew and it smells fine.
A great little British oak desk in smashing vintage order.
