19TH Century Framed Oil on Canvas titled “Hampstead Heath. BOYLE”
0155£0.00 - £155.00
A well composed oil on canvas painted in the latter part of the 19th century sitting in an attractive period frame with the title “Hampstead Heath. BOYLE”. A little investigation has thrown up the details that this painting could have been the work of George A Boyle (1826-1899), a British artist who hailed from Greenwich and produced landscapes with figures of East Finchley and Blackheath. The oil shows a pathway through a small gathering of trees with a gentleman holding a stick standing on a raised clearing opening up to the countryside beyond. The picture is well painted and apart from maybe requiring a light clean is in good order with no tears or rips.
Hampstead Heath was a regular haunt of artists during the 19th century proving very popular due to its wonderful scenery and convenient location and there are numerous settings and areas which were painted thus making it very difficult to pin point a particular area on the Heath.
A very satisfying Oil ready to hang and be enjoyed.
