An Attractive Early 1930s Deco Era Bergere Armchair
Rather splendid looking, especially those plump seed pod shaped front legs. Presented in wonderful original condition with the deep toned floral damask on black background woven silk fabric still relatively fresh.
This bergere chair sits well - it’s superbly proportioned to use as an occasional chair and we think it’s rather marvellous and just grand enough...
Workshop report – The chair is sitting in great original condition. The original fabric is not over worn – no tears, rips. The seat springs are tight and in place – not ultra-firm but your bum is not going to hit the floor. The cushions are feather filled and still quite plump. The cane work has no holes or repairs which is always good news. The frame is repair free with the usual day to day knocks but nothing out of hand. We have lightly waxed the frame and cleaned the seat, so pretty much ready to place.
A delightful bergere chair in smashing original order.
